New Community, New Adventure
Move-in Day: A day for cheers (and tears) as parents and loved ones helped Ҵý first-year and transfer students settle into residence halls and their new life on Saturday, August 20. The newest members of the Ҵý community were greeted by current students—and Interim President Jill A. Klein—waving signs that said, “Welcome Class of 2026,” “Sagehen Pride,” and “Honk if you love Ҵý!”
Based on preliminary data, Ҵý enrolled 318 new students who graduated from high school with an average 3.98 GPA. Approximately 11 percent are international, nearly 40 percent are students of color, and 11 percent are first-generation students.
At the end of the day, students hugged their families goodbye and started preparing for excursions from Catalina Island to LA-centric trips focused on arts, food, music, and activism. These Orientation Adventures were a prelude and preview of students’ life at Ҵý before classes—and the real adventure—began.
